Visitor center with tourist information, animated journey through time "Mythos Edersee" and attractive outdoor area: A section through the century-old structure brings the history of the Edersee to life.
Architecturally, the building is based on the dam wall and is therefore a special feature with a regional reference. The concept idea arose from the symbolic cutting out of a section of the Eder dam. The visitor center is divided into four areas: The foyer is located in the "section through the wall". The outdoor area invites visitors to linger and is a meeting place. The large steps provide seating and the terrace overlooks the lake and the Wall. The tourist information office and the panorama lounge are located on the first floor. The "Mythos Edersee" exhibition on the history of Lake Edersee and the sanitary facilities are located in the basement.
The interior design is also based on the barrier wall: the floor and walls have a stone look and the view from the entrance is upwards into the open tower. It feels as if you are standing in the mighty barrier wall itself. The wooden elements represent nature, which is of particular importance in the Edersee region.
