Fledermaustunnel geschlossen

von Ende Oktober bis Anfang April

ATTENTION:

Further safety measures are still required following the major fire on the upstream company premises in Fehrenbracht. The cycle path from Fehrenbracht to the tunnel cannot yet be reopened. The tunnel is therefore also still closed.

The Fledermaustunnel will open on 22.04.2024 at the latest.

The "Fledermaustunnel" as part of the SauerlandRadring and Ruhr-Sieg-Radweg between Finnentrop-Fehrenbracht and Eslohe-Kückelheim is closed every year at the end of October.

After that, the animals from which the Kückelheim tunnel got its name can move back into the 689m-long tube to hibernate there undisturbed for a good five months.
The new cycling season can begin again on the first weekend in April at the latest. If the weather conditions are favorable, an earlier opening is also possible. The Fledermaustunnel is expected to open on 22.04.2024 at the latest.

For cyclists who also want to ride the SauerlandRadring or the Ruhr-Sieg-Radweg on the Finnentrop - Eslohe route in winter, a winter bypass from Fehrenbracht via Schliprüthen, Obersalwey, Niedersalwey to Eslohe or vice versa from Eslohe via Niedersalwey, Obersalwey, Schliprüthen to Fehrenbracht is signposted as part of the state-wide cycle path network.

The SauerlandRadring can therefore also be cycled via this - albeit topographically more challenging - alternative route when the tunnel is closed. To do this, follow the junction system with the sequence 42-54-55 from the direction of Eslohe or 55-54-42 from the direction of Finnentrop.

You can find an overview of the bypass here:
