3rd edition of the “Kilometers for Kids” event on the SauerlandRadring

On Saturday, August 1, it’s time once again to hop on your bike and do some good together. That’s when this year’s charity event in support of “Kilometers for Children” kicks off for its third edition at the Lennepark parking lot in Finnentrop. The ride supports parent initiatives for seriously ill children, and every kilometer counts. 

Whether you’re riding a road bike, gravel bike, e-bike, touring bike, scooter, or recumbent bike—everyone is welcome. The roughly 120-kilometer route, with about 1,000 meters of elevation gain, will be completed at a challenging yet manageable average speed of 20 to 23 km/h. A group break at a bakery is planned after about 60 kilometers. However, anyone who wishes can shorten the tour to 80 kilometers afterward. There is no entry fee; instead, the organizers welcome voluntary donations, such as ten cents per kilometer ridden. 

The tour is organized by Susanne Hücking and Guido Renner, who have been involved with the initiative for years. “It’s impressive to see how many people get on their bikes to support families with seriously ill children,” she says. “Every kilometer cycled is a sign of solidarity—and together we can make a big difference.”
