Schmallenberg, Poststraße 7
Get to know the diversity of the seven golden villages of the Schmallenberg Sauerland. There is a lot to discover over 49 kilometers: pretty half-timbered villages with imposing churches and impressive scenery await you if you follow the golden route logo in the shape of a house. The "goldiest" corners of the Schmallenberg Sauerland with the golden villages of Lenne, Fleckenberg, Grafschaft, Oberkirchen, Westfeld, Niedersorpe and Holthausen also entice you with cozy restaurants that invite you to stop for a bite to eat. You will therefore have plenty of opportunities to rest, e.g. to recover from the challenging ascent of 638 meters in altitude. On this tour, you can discover the unspoilt Sauerland and enjoy the surrounding nature to the full.
The tour starts in Schmallenberg at the timber and tourism center and then takes you through the gold villages of Lenne and Fleckenberg. From Fleckenberg, you continue through the spa gardens in Schmallenberg and reach the third gold village, Grafschaft. On the way to Oberkirchen, the route crosses the WaldSkulpturenWeg Wittgenstein - Sauerland at the "Blinker II" sculpture. From Oberkirchen, the steepest ascent of the route takes you to Westfeld. The route then leads back along the Lenneroute to Oberkirchen and Winkhausen. Here you turn right towards Niedersorpe, to the penultimate gold village. The last gold village is Holthausen. With a view of the golf course in Winkhausen, the route leads to Gleidorf and via the SauerlandRadring back to Schmallenberg, the starting point of your tour.
As the tour is very demanding, we recommend taking sufficient food and drink with you.
Please wear sturdy shoes, cycling clothing and a helmet.
