Following the construction of the 2.5 km illuminated roller skiing track in 1997, which offers biathletes and skiers optimal training conditions in summer and winter, a biathlon facility with 15 shooting stands for small caliber was built in 2001. In order to be able to use this shooting range for competitions, ten additional target systems and a prefabricated functional building were added by Fingerhaus in 2007.
The functional building of the EWF Biathlon Arena is used for team meetings, as a storage room and has sanitary facilities and changing rooms. Particularly noteworthy are the all-round windows through which the judges can see large parts of the biathlon course.
In order to provide optimum training and competition conditions in winter too, further investment was made in a snow-making pond and snow-making system in 2009 so that the entire course can be covered with snow in sub-zero temperatures.
Biathlon shootingfor groups
Have you always wanted to aim at the 5 round targets with a KK rifle like a biathlete? This is possible at the shooting range of the EWF Biathlon Arena - prone and standing. After a brief introduction to the use of a small-caliber rifle, groups can try their luck on the biathlon folding targets 50 meters away. Information and prices are available from Willingen Ski Club.
If that's not enough, you can also try roller skiing. Nordic skating is the name of the new sport, which is a combination of inline skating and cross-country skiing. The advantage of this sport is that it is independent of the weather and surface. A Nordic skating taster course is available for groups of 10 or more and includes the necessary equipment, instruction and shooting with a biathlon rifle.
