The stone house is located in the old town ensemble of Frankenberg. It is the oldest house in Frankenberg and was built in 1240. It is more than 20 meters high and has a spacious vaulted cellar. It was able to withstand the flames of the great fire of 1476. It then temporarily served as the town hall of Frankenberg's Altstadt. Today it houses the town library.
