A beautiful path leads you to the Lennequelle spring, which has its source on the summit of the Kahler Asten.
At 830 above sea level, the Lenne spring is the highest mountain spring in the Sauerland. The water gushes out of a hidden drainage pipe between several large chunks of quartz ceratophyre that have been artificially deposited on site. Several benches invite you to linger, between which the water trickles down amidst small boulders. From there, the Lenne flows through the Schmallenberg Sauerland and the Olpe district. It is the most water-rich and therefore most important tributary of the Ruhr. After around 130 kilometers, it flows into the Ruhr near Hagen.
